Celebrating the photographic paradise of the Surf Coast and a slew of talented snappers in the region, One Agency Surf Coast has announced the winners of its popular Calendar Photo Competition, which saw a swathe of amateur and professional photographers submitting their favourite scenic shots.

Now in its fourth year, the competition called for local photographers to submit scenic shots from postcode 3228 to be featured in the 2023 calendar. Whether it be the dramatic scenery of the road contrasting with the cliffs and the ocean, or of the beaches where the waves and surfers make for a slice of paradise, this competition wanted to see it all.

Once again, world-renowned surf photographer Ed Sloane selected the 13 winning scenic shots of Torquay, Jan Juc and Bells Beach, which were taken by eight photographers.

Torquay photographer Ash Hughes’s spectacular image titled Bells Beauty was chosen as the cover shot of the 2023 calendar.

The 13 winning photos were announced at a function at Bomboras Torquay on Thursday 10 November.

“The idea for our first calendar in 2020 came from looking at all the stunning Surf Coast images on Instagram, shared by professional and amateur photographers. We thought how cool it would be to create a calendar of these incredible scenic shots that people can hang in their homes or business to enjoy year-round,” says One Agency Surf Coast Director, Shaun O’Callaghan.

“This year, once again, we were blown away by the hundreds of quality submissions we received – many of which were shot on a humble smartphone! Reviewing the photos always makes us feel lucky to call this beautiful part of the world home.

“Year on year, we also love being able to showcase the incredibly talented photographers among us, both established and emerging,” he added.

This year, One Agency invited the public to vote for their favourite photo via a Facebook competition. Point Cook photographer Russell Charters took out the ‘Crowd Favourite Award’ for his photo titled Bells Beach Current Swirls.
