The Big Design Market returns with 270 stalls under one roof for three big days

WORDS BY ZACHARY SANDERSON

Food, wine, art and more will be set up at the Royal Exhibition Building in early December.

After three years of cessation due to lockdowns, The Big Design returns to the heart of Carlton. With an array of different creators boasting their crafts, there will be something for everyone.

Featuring a myriad of different food and wine, art displays, shopping and creating, the market is expecting a massive comeback after a long hiatus.

On display for three days only is the showcasing of Indigenous artist Anny Hay (Pia Designs). Being of Tasmanian origin, she’s set to decorate the interior of the Royal Exhibition Building with vibrant, colourful artwork that will give the space a breath of fresh air.

Not only will you be able to appreciate the artwork, Karina Jambrak brings her nature inspired ambient pieces to the market stall. This is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on some timeless pieces.

If you’re thinking about giving your fur baby a treatment as well, why not try Scratch’s premium-made Australian dog food. There will be jewellery especially made by Indigenous creator Haus of Dizzy. There will even be customed designed glassware from Hot Haus Glass Studio. If that doesn’t prove that there isn’t something for everyone, maybe the food will change your mind.

Yum Cha is bringing their oriental tea house with an array of simply delicious dumplings, the famous Footscray locals Pie Thief bring their pastry expertise, and it wouldn’t be complete without Taco Truck placing the cherry on top. You can shop and then refuel on some of the greatest culinary delights.

All happening under the beautiful interior of The Royal Exhibition Building, The Big Design is set to make a well-earned comeback.
