Denis Walter’s Carols By The Bay has been cancelled

Words by Staff Writer

The annual and free Christmas event, Denis Walter’s Carols by the Bay, was meant to take place on Saturday night.

In a sad start to the festive season, Denis Walter’s legendary Carols by the Bay has been cancelled due to weather.

“Due to safety reasons caused by today’s rain, the team at Denis Walter Carols by the Bay are unable to proceed with tonight’s event,” a post from City of Greater Geelong said today.

“While this will be disappointing for many, safety is our first consideration.”

The free event – one that has become synonymous with the city’s Christmas celebrations since its inception in 1997 – was slated to take place at Eastern Beach Reserve in Geelong on 2 December.
