The Renegades are back at their home away from home this December.

While it’s still months away, the Melbourne Renegades have announced that once again they are bringing the juggernaut that is the Twenty20 Big Bash League back to our doorstep.

In a massive coup for the City of Greater Geelong yet again, the Renegades confirmed their loyalty to the Geelong region, with the Renegades’ KFC BBL|13 home opener against the Perth Scorchers set to take place at GMHBA Stadium at Kardinia Park on Sunday, December 10.

Keep up with the latest in local news and entertainment here.

The Big Bash League (BBL) is a shortened version of cricket, where games usually last approximately three hours with each team having twenty overs to bat. This means entertainment right from the outset with inventive and big-hitting batting, quick and clever bowling, acrobatic and athletic catching and fielding, plus those moments that leave fans gasping on the edge of their seats.

The return of the Renegades to Geelong will see the likes of local hero Aaron Finch lining up alongside new overseas players, promises to be an exciting contest against the reigning BBL champion Perth Scorchers.

“Local fans will once again enjoy free family sporting fun and entertainment with the Festival of Sport, leading into an exciting BBL cricket game.”

That’s right, keen attendees can also make the most of the day with a jam-packed afternoon of fun family fun and entertainment with the Festival of Sport outside the stadium.

First held in 2018, The Festival of Sport is a celebration of physical activity, health and sport in our region. Held in Geelong’s iconic sporting heart, Kardinia Park; the Festival is a much-loved event for providing hours of inclusive, free fun for all, and featuring over 20 interactive sporting experiences and displays.

In addition to the Geelong home opener, the club is scheduled to host four home matches at Marvel Stadium.
