“This year we celebrate the transformative power of the arts in shaping our cities with South Side showcasing and highlighting how the arts breathe new life into our urban landscape, stimulate creativity and foster community ties,” Mayor Nathan Conroy said.

“There is also a major focus this year on our precious environment. Join us in upcycling fashion workshops, embrace sustainability and be an active coastal caretaker. By embedding environmental consciousness into South Side programming, we aim to inspire positive change and a feeling of responsibility towards our surroundings.”

One of the festival’s highlights is Neon Fields at Beauty Park, where attendees can immerse themselves in a neon wonderland, featuring illuminated gardens and the world-famous Angel Wings installation. The event promises to ignite imagination and provide a delightful experience for visitors of all ages.

Art enthusiasts can also look forward to The Huxley’s multimedia exhibition, Gender Fluids, at Cube 37, along with various sound installations and performances at George Pentland Gardens, including Bird Child Spirit.

Explore taboo topics around aging with the experimental art Collective, Pony Cam, in their presentation of The Show Goes On. Additionally, discover BAM Arts’ new work, Aspect Within, a vibrant dance and theatre production challenging stereotypes about disability.

Originating in Denmark in 2000 and now available in over 80 countries, the Human Library offers a unique opportunity to borrow a “Human Book” and engage in meaningful conversations about their life experiences.

With exciting events like the wintery beach party South Side Sea Soak, the creative clothing design workshop House of Fast Fashun, and the wildly popular Briefs Boys Dirty Laundry cabaret (in Frankston for the first time ever), the series has something for everyone.
