Belfast-born, London-based duo Bicep will be at the Forum on Jan 3 and 4. British rock royalty Arctic Monkeys shows at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Jan 4 and 5 say ‘sold out’ on other platforms, but at the time of writing, you could still get some on Tixel.
AMINÉ has announced a run of sideshows during his upcoming Falls Festival appearance, doing a show in Melbourne at the Forum on Jan 6. Grammy nominated American rapper Freddie Gibbs will also be playing to a packed house when there the following night, while Joey Bada$$ will be making it a hat-trick with his show at the Forum on Jan 8.
Other upcoming tours include Rina Sawayama, Thy Art Is Murder, Elton John, Pinkpanthress The Dead South and Red Hot Chili Peppers with Post Malone .
Festivals
In addition to the side shows and arena acts, there’s some killer summer festival lineups coming to town and hey, who isn’t ready and raring to get back out there with a bucket hat, some sunscreen and your besties. Here’s our top picks on festivals to hit up this summer.
Falls Festival
For the better part of three decades, the Falls Festival has been held down in Lorne, but it’s now doing the festival equivalent of couch surfing and for this year, crashing with a mate in the city. From 29 – 31 December this year, the Falls Festival – featuring Arctic Monkeys, Lil Nas X, Peggy Gou, Chvrches, Jamie XX – will be happening at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne.
Coastal Jam
Taking place on various dates in different locations is Coastal Jam. Do the right thing and see family on Chrissy Day, then Boxing Day head to Barwon Heads to catch Disco Lines from the US, Tseba, Dean Turnley and more. Then on Jan 7, it’s Warnambool’s turn, with Odd Mob, Latifa Tee, Meetwally and many more on the line-up.
Nowadays
If you’re looking for a New Year’s Eve event with a side-serve of sea breeze and beach, Riva in St Kilda is the place to be. NOWADAYS NYE (The Return Of The Ocean Of White) will feature Dutch electronic dance music duo Showtek as headliners, in a night promising hours of house, electro, minimal, hardstyle and rnb to see in 2023. Oh, and be sure to wear white!
Sun Cycle
Start the new year at the Coburg Velodrome, not cycling but dancing. From midday New Years Day, right through into the evening, Sun Cycle have assembled 25 DJs who will be performing across three stages – Body Heat, Inner Orbit and Simmer Down – giving you the chance to witness the overlap between all spectrums of dance music. Antal, Bertie, Bria and Bumpy are among the massive line-up.

Let Them Eat Cake
If a velodrome isn’t your vibe for new years day, but a heritage-listed mansion is more your scene, then you’ll need to head to Werribee for Let Them Eat Cake, a festival that explores the union of music and art, with a focus on championing live, local, and world renowned creatives. Celebrating a decade of dance for its 10th Anniversary Edition, the 2023 instalment of LTEC will feature performers from around the globe and clusters of music, culture, art, cuisine, and community in the gardens of Werribee Park Mansion.
