After a stellar inaugural year, Tabula Rasa returns in 2022 for another three-day, three-night festival.
This year, the independent New Year’s Eve camping event ups the ante with a bigger lineup, a stronger arts and creative program, as well as talks and pop-up stands from independent Australian creatives.
The lineup features a solid display of some of the most exciting local and international, trance, progressive and electronic DJs in today’s music scene. This includes the likes of D.Tiffany, Roza Terenzi, Sally C, Byron Yeates, DJ JNETT, Guy Contact and Kia*. Revellers will be able to discover new artists and get their fix of ambient to bass-heavy sets from three stages.

This year, a string of local labels, such as Animalia and Techworld will each take over the second stage for a day. Chomley returns for a second year take over, instead this time programming a downtempo seated lounge.
Festival co-director and music programmer, Will Dundon, says: “The programming intention for 2022 was to offer the most celebratory experience that we could. The return of travel helped us make that happen. We aim to provide a platform for global and Australian artists to connect and shape the distinctive identity that comes from a festival Down Under. Each artist on the bill has majorly contributed to the evolution of contemporary dance music. Many of the Aussie ones have been playing parties for years and deserve large-scale opportunities.”

In 2022, there will be the addition of yoga, dance classes, talks and pop-up stands where punters can stay fresh with haircuts, manicures and tooth gems. Festival co-director, Cinzia Ubaldi, says the event was founded in an organic way, on passionate grounds.
“There was always so much pressure to be doing something really fun over New Year’s Eve. I always thought that a camping music festival would be the only thing that could live up to this expectation. There are absolutely some amazing camping festivals over New Year’s Eve that speak to other markets. But at the time, there were none that targeted my mates and I. So Tabula Rasa was created to fill a gap in the market simply by putting on the party that we wanted to attend.”
This year, Tabula Rasa will make life easier for punters with a new BYO liquor licence. Revellers will journey through the Grampians National Park to ring in 2023 at the festival site in Hamilton.
Tabula Rasa is an event from Plasma House Studios. A creative events and production house based in Naarm / Melbourne. The studios connect local, rising talent with established international artists by offering them the same platform. Doing so fosters inspiration and the evolution of dance music.
