Destined to become one of the most important events on the musical calendar, Shepp Music Week is the inaugural music celebration festival and conference taking place in Shepparton, the cultural hub of regional Victoria.

Taking place on Kaieltheban land, Yorta Yorta country from Monday 7 to Friday 12 March, Shepp Music Week will be a massive week-long celebration of music, free workshops and amazing live music offerings.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

With a core focus on celebrating Shepparton as the multicultural and First Nations music capital of regional Victoria, the event aims to provide Shepparton and the surrounding music communities an opportunity to grow their creative practice and network with like-minded individuals and has been curated by a collection of brilliant minds including Jamie Lea (Director, Jl Productions & Hire), Anita Larkin (Senior Projects Advisor, MAV), Neil Morris of Drmngnow and Still Here Arts & Culture, and Ree Peric (Music Victoria’s Regional Music Coordinator).

Over the six days, music lovers, musicians and industry will be treated to five free workshops, one free live music event and two ticketed live music events.

The free workshops include artist development intensive, finding community and creating platforms, developing music environments on Indigenous land, An Industry Discussion about Festivals in Regional Vic, plus a 60-minute workshop with Yorta Yorta/Gunditjamara, artist Isaiah Firebrace who will share his incredible journey and answer from the audience.

As for the free music, Baiyiya Yapaneyepuk – Song Together will feature an exciting lineup of Yorta Yorta artists including Isaiah Firebrace, Bricky B, Shanikwa AJ, Lillie Walker and DJVM. Presented by Still Here Arts & Culture, this event is an expression of the continuation of song being shared and generated by kinship systems that are linked to many thousands of years of connection to this land and the culture it is connected to.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also Newprint Block 30 – a one-off special party closing the first-ever Shepp Music Week.  Going down on Saturday night, the event will feature MLRBN one of the finest in Australia’s urban music scene right now bringing the old the new and everything in-between, Calculated Risk new wave hip hop artists from Melbourne’s outer north, DJ Star keeping it hype with all your favourite hip hop, drill and RnB tunes, and The African Titan Yungkily.

The week-long event also coincides with The Push’s All-Ages Tour, with performances from Kaiit, KIAN, Aprilis, Vince the Kid and Mistykid, on Friday 11 March.

Shepp Music Week runs from March 7-12 2022. You can register for the free workshops and purchase tickets online through Eventbrite. Head here for the full program.
