Beloved regional festival Boogie returns to Tallarook this Easter

The 15th instalment of Boogie Festival is locked in.

A year after it became one of the first music festivals on the planet to come back in the midst of Covid, the much-loved Boogie festival will be back this Easter at its regular location ‘Our Friend’s Farm’. On the lands of the Taungurung, in Tallarook, just one hour north of Melbourne up the Hume Highway, Boogie has truly become a beloved destination for a bevy of like-minded splendid humans getting involved in the party of their lives!

Despite announcing last year would be its final incarnation, the now cult three-day extravaganza is pushing on for its 15th year over the Easter weekend, from mid-Friday arvo on April 15 (making for a very Good Friday) until late on April 17 (the early hours of Easter Monday actually).

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

This year, however, Boogie has announced there will be ‘A Different Vibration’ to the festivities.

“What does that mean? Well, we don’t really know, but we do know this is one festival that has never let anyone down and continues to deliver in its own Boogie way, so whatever it is, it’s gonna be great. I mean, a quick squiz at some of the names who’ve played Boogie over its 14 previous incarnations makes it pretty clear that in Boogie world, it’s always been different and it’s always been great,” the festival said in a statement today.

Looking back at the past few years, the usually sold-out festival has hosted a mammoth list of musical heroes, featuring Grace Cummings (2019), Amyl & The Sniffers and Tropical Fuck Storm (2018) early on, and, back in 2012, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – on a bill with James Reyne and Justin Townes Earle! And Jason Isbell way back in 2010. 2009’s headliners included both Eddy Current Suppression Ring and the festival’s patron saint Tony Joe White.

Other artists over the years have included King Stingray, Kurt Ville (who’s wearing his Boogie cap on the cover of his just-announced new album!), Eilen Jewell, Endless Boogie, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, Pond, The Chats, Wagons, Even, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Don Walker & The Suave Fucks, The Meanies, Jen Cloher, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and countless others.

It’s clear, “different” and “great” are in Boogie’s genes.

Tickets go on sale Friday, February 18 2022 from here. As usual, numbers are capped for comfort – and artist announcements will start Friday Feb 25. You probably shouldn’t hesitate.
