Voting is underway to decide which images will be chosen for the 2023 City of Greater Geelong Calendar competition.

Each year the City of Greater Geelong create a wall calendar made up of photographs from amazing local amateur and professional photographers which are submitted through their annual calendar photo competition.

Designed to discover the very best of our region, the competition attracts hundreds as snappers try their hand at producing one of the final 13 images that get selected for the calendar, which is free of charge for residents and delivered to over 110,000 residents’ homes and the City’s customer service and leisure centres.

The last couple of months have seen the city calling for shutterbugs to share their ‘uniquely Geelong’ images for a chance to be featured in the next calendar, and now the results are in.

The key takeaways

  • The Geelong calendar competition is now open for a public vote.
  • After receiving more than 1000 entries, the City of Greater Geelong has shortlisted two photos per month.
  • More than 130,000 copies of the free calendar will be delivered in November

After receiving more than 1000 entries, the City of Greater Geelong have shortlisted 26 images, two photos per month, as well as two cover photo options and is calling for the public to vote for their favourite photo for each month.

From the stunning cover image and all the way through to December, the images capture everything that makes up our beautiful region, with the inclusion of landscapes, architecture and urban space, nature, and events and people.

“We were blown away by the talent on show across more than 1000 entries from both amateur and professional photographers,” says Geelong Mayor Peter Murrihy.

“Our free calendars are incredibly popular, and many residents put the calendar up in their home and send copies to friends and relatives as gifts.

“Please jump online and vote for your favourite images from across our region.”

This year’s competition encouraged amateur and professional photographers of all ages to use their creativity, look with fresh eyes, and submit photos that showcase the magic of the Greater Geelong region.

More than 130,000 copies of the free calendar will be delivered in November along with Council’s Community Update and annual Christmas program.

The 13 winning images from the annual photography competition will be selected through an online public voting process that runs until 5pm on Wednesday 7 September 2022.
