So happy together: Blackman’s Brewery and Splatters Cheese Bar team up for Beer & Cheese Festival

Words by Staff Writer

Forget cheese and wine - cheese and beer is the proper pairing.

Geelong hospitality heroes, Blackman’s Brewery and Splatters Cheese Bar are joining forces for an epic stomach showstopper, the Beer & Cheese Festival. For a second-year running, independent family run and owned brewery, Blackman’s Brewery will combine their core cold beer range with the creamy and crumbly cheese range from the dedicated cheese bar, Splatters Cheese Bar in a celebration of the two godly tastebud pleasers.

Going down on Saturday 4 May at the Geelong location for Blackman’s Brewery, the festival will have you rolling out of the Grovedale doors.

In amongst the shiny tanks of tantalising froths, Blackman’s Brewery transforms into a culinary centre for this free, family friendly and dog friendly festival. Take yourself through the tables to be treated by Renn Blackman as he leads a masterclass in How to Pair Beer and Cheese. Join Jo Bangles of Splatters to learn how to create homemade accompaniments for cheese. Indulge in a gourmet cheese box, and try the beer and cheese paddles.

Take a break in between filling your stomach by feasting on some ear-deliciousness, with live music happening in the space across the whole event.

The standout of the festival is the Beer and Cheese Pairing Session. Picture this, Jo Bangles, the head cheese master of Splatters, and Matt Atkin from Blackman’s Brewery lead you on a journey through tastebud terrace, unlocking your palette to the crisp beer blends and silky cheese cuts. Four award-winning artisan cheeses will be paired with four beers from the Blackman’s  range on this epic adventure. There will be a seated session on offer between 12pm and 7pm.
