PSA: The Australian Defence Force will be training in Geelong this month

The Australian Defence Force is conducting military training from now until 19 May across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.

The Australian Army has issued a warning to the community with military training commencing across the region this month.

Australian Defence Force personnel will conduct military training from 1 to 19 May in the greater Geelong region and on the Bellarine Peninsula, with Blank ammunition, pyrotechnics and military vehicles all being used.

A statement from the Defence Force has revealed that the “public should not be alarmed if they see or hear military vehicles, watercraft, unmanned aerial systems and military personnel carrying weapons.”

“Blank ammunition and pyrotechnics will be used during some aspects of the training.”

The training will be conducted during the day and night so residents and people around the area who see or hear the training should not be concerned.

This essential training is vital to maintain Australia’s world-class military capability. The training adheres to COVID-19 restrictions and incorporates good health management processes.

The Army could not provide any additional details including specific timings, regarding this training in order to protect operational tactics, techniques and procedures.
