Nominations are now open for young people aged 12-25 who live, work, learn or play in the City of Greater Geelong.

If so and you think they deserve to be recognised for their contributions, you can nominate them for a Geelong Youth Award which could give your young person the spark they need to reach their potential.

Known as the biggest celebration of young people in our region, the annual awards aim to recognise and celebrate young people who have made or who are currently making significant contributions in the areas of leadership, cultural awareness, community work, sport, arts, music and youth development.
Nominees can be nominated in a variety of categories and are open to anyone between 12 and 25 years who lives, works, learns or plays in the City of Greater Geelong.
The 10 awards are:
The Active Achievement Award recognises a young person whose involvement in sport and recreation has benefited the community.
The Arts & Music Award recognises a young person who has demonstrated dedication, creativity and passion for their art and engaged the community and audiences through various mediums including for example visual arts, gaming design, music, writing, sculpture, theatre, or film.
The Citizenship (Group) Award recognises a group of young people that have empowered or shown dedication to others.
The Citizenship (Individual) Award recognises individual young people that may be described as ‘model citizens’ due to their involvement and dedication to empower others.
The Cultural Awareness Award recognises a young person who has contributed to creating a vibrant and diverse cultural community.
The Inclusion Award recognises the effort of a young person who strives to make change and promote inclusion for young people in any of the following areas.
The Inspiration Award recognises a young person who can be described as an inspirational role model for others.
The Leadership Award recognises a young person who has demonstrated leadership within their community through school, work or other pursuits/contributions and is regarded by others as a good example to follow.
The Unsung Hero Award recognises a young person who can be described as having a positive attitude, a willingness to help and a commitment in doing so.
The Volunteer Award – Working with Young People recognises any person who works on a voluntary basis with young people. (This award is open to all ages).
Nominations close Sunday 19 February 2023 and winners will be announced Friday 31 March 2023 at a Gala Event to be held at The Geelong West Town Hall. Award winners will receive a personal trophy and a $500 contribution to support their ongoing interests and education.
