You'll soon be able to experience the vineyards from sunrise to sunset and make your wine day out a weekend-long affair with a stay at one of Victoria's most beautiful wineries.

As regional vacations become more in demand, beautiful wineries are truly becoming the getaway of choice for those in the know. No longer needing to find a designated driver, accommodation at a winery allows you to enjoy the full vineyard experience from sunrise to sunset. From waking up to gorgeous scenery, and spend your day relaxing and exploring before retiring to your digs with a glass of locally produced wine in hand, it’s definitely a unique offering when it comes to escaping the ordinary.

Now, this will be a reality for one of our favourite local wineries – Mt Duneed Estate, located just 15 minutes from Geelong and Torquay and just over one hour from Melbourne, with the Andrews Labor Government investing in regional tourism with funding for new accommodation suites at the beloved venue.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here

Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula today announced $260,000 from the Labor Government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund will go towards building eight luxury pods at the winery, creating new jobs and drawing more visitors to the region.

“Mount Duneed Estate already attracts diners, wine lovers, and music fans, and this project means they’ll be able to stay longer and enjoy all the region has to offer,” says Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula

“We’re supporting projects that bring more visitors to Victoria – supporting local businesses and creating local jobs.”

The boutique one-bedroom spaces will be nestled amongst the Estate’s famous vineyard, featuring a modern bathroom and balcony, boasting scenic views.

The luxury accommodation will boost tourism to the Greater Geelong region with iconic winery known for hosting a range of events from, weddings, concerts by international artists and the popular music festival A Day On The Green.

Work on the accommodation is due to begin this year and finish mid-2023 supporting five jobs during construction and a further two once complete. We’ll certainly be counting down the days.

“This new accommodation will be a great way for visitors to enjoy not only what the vineyard has to offer but the region as well,” says Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas.

The Government’s Regional Tourism Investment Fund is helping entice more visitors to Victoria’s regions, driving private investment and accelerating the recovery of the tourism sector.
