With valentine’s day right around the corner, this might just be the most unforgettable date ever.
With many African animals being most active at dusk, the return of Werribee Open Range Zoo‘s Sunset Safari is the perfect time to see some of the world’s most iconic animals, including rhinoceros, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, lions and hippopotamus… especially when you can fight wildlife extinction at the same time.
The key takeaways
- Experience Werribee Open Range Zoo like never before in this exclusive after-hours event
- Proceeds from Sunset Safari help Zoos Victoria support international conservation partners
- The Sunset Safari will run from February 6 until March 13
This must-see safari adventure provides an exclusive glimpse into the lives of the animals that call the Zoo home. Visitors are being allowed the opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable evening of exploring the Zoo’s luminous open plains with a Safari guide at a time of the day where many animals are most active, an authentic performance of drums, song and dance to the rhythm and soul of Africa and even enjoy a cocktail with a lion (if you dare) and a BBQ dinner at Hippo Beach, or à la carte dining in the Meerkat Bistro with both indoor and outdoor seating available.
For the first time, Sunset Safari guests will be also able to explore the walking trail throughout the Zoo at dusk. See meerkats, lions, monkeys, wild dogs, hippos and cheetah like never before as the sun goes down.
This intimate experience will let you fight wildlife extinction whilst in their very presence. Proceeds from Sunset Safari help Zoos Victoria support international conservation partner, Rhino Fund Uganda, in their efforts to save the Southern white rhino from extinction. With Rhinos being serious threat from illegal poaching due to an escalating demand for rhino horn, the Rhino Fund Uganda aims to recover the country’s population of rhinos and reintroduce the species to Uganda following their extinction in the region in the 1980s.
This is the perfect experience to enjoy what nature has to offer with the family, a couple of mates or even something to have your date wowed.
Sunset Safari will run for six weeks, from Saturday, February 6 to Saturday, March 13, starting at 5:30pm to 9pm every Saturday.
An evening at the Zoo, is a one-of-a-kind opportunity as you join the Zoo on its journey to secure a future rich in wildlife.
