Alright movie goers, this one’s for the Christopher Nolan fans.
Ten years after it first hit cinemas, the acclaimed box office sensation and absolute mind-bender, Inception, is back on the big screen to celebrate the 10th anniversary, as well as help get everyone in the mood for Nolan’s new movie, Tenet – an action epic evolving from the world of international espionage, which is giving off very Inception-esque vibes.
Written and directed by Nolan, Inception is a seriously trippy movie that became an absolute favourite a decade ago for its dream-hijacking premise, epic visuals and its stellar cast, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, and Marion Cotillard.
In case you’ve forgotten (or god forbid, haven’t seen it), the story follows Leonardo DiCaprio’s character Dom Cobb, who is as a professional thief, stealing secret information from his targets’ subconscious while they slumber. He is later offered a chance to have his criminal history erased as payment for the implantation of another person’s idea into a target’s subconscious.
It sounds totally bizarre trying to explain it here, and even after opening in theatres 10 years ago, people are still talking about Inception and all of its twists and turns… making it all the more exciting to see it back on the big screen.
That special anniversary event is also slated to give audiences a never-before-seen look at footage from Tenet and an exclusive sneak peek of select films on Warner Bros.’ upcoming slate.
For us in Geelong, we’ll be able to experience the dreams within dreams (within dreams within dreams) of Christopher Nolan’s Inception when it hits Readings Cinema in Waurn Ponds on July 30, ahead of Tenet which is due in cinemas on Thursday August 13. The film be on Netflix but really, is there anything better than a dark room, a bucket of popcorn and Leo on the big screen? I think not.
