Founded in 2022 by passionate ceramic artists Rylie Jabornik of Pour and Plate and Elizabeth Bell of Elizabeth Bell Ceramics, the Geelong Ceramics Market has swiftly become a beloved fixture in the community. Their mission? To foster unity and connection within the local ceramics community while providing a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase and sell their exceptional creations.

This year, the market is back with a bang, featuring the works of 17 outstanding artists. From pottery to sculptures and functional pieces, visitors can expect a diverse range of unique and exquisite ceramic artistry. The event takes place on December 9th and 10th from 10am to 3pm daily at the Big Boom Gallery in Newtown.

But Geelong Ceramics Market is not just about shopping for beautiful and one-of-a-kind pieces. It’s about giving back to the community. As a gesture of support, a gold coin donation is requested at the entry, with all proceeds going to the selected charity for the year. In 2023, the market proudly partners with Stronger Brother Stronger Sister, a 100% Aboriginal-owned and operated organization dedicated to supporting local Indigenous youth through mentoring and youth groups, both online and in-person.

The collaboration with Rutland Street traders in 2022 was a testament to the market’s commitment to enriching the local community with a vibrant tapestry of creativity and culture. Now, in its second year, the Geelong Ceramics Market is set to captivate attendees once again, promising a highlight for ceramic enthusiasts, art aficionados, and the general public alike.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to support local artists and a worthy cause while indulging in the beauty of ceramic artistry. Plus, it’s also the perfect excuse to pick up a few goodies for Christmas!

The Geelong Ceramic Market is on at Boom Gallery’s “Big Boom” space (5 Rutland Street, Newtown) on Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10 from 10am-3pm. Find out more here
