This isn’t your average residency. The 12-month, self-directed program is designed to give mid-career artists the time, space, and professional support to dream big—whether it’s developing a bold new performance piece or deepening an existing artistic inquiry. It’s about empowering artists to push boundaries and carve out space for meaningful innovation, all while anchored in the creative hub of Geelong Arts Centre.
Ideal applicants will already have a solid body of work behind them, with demonstrated experience in live performance and a strong track record of collaboration and mentoring. But more than that, the centre is looking for artists who can clearly articulate why now is the right time for their project, and why this opportunity is crucial to their practice.
In return, Associate Artists will be expected to share their knowledge with the next wave of talent, offering mentorship and workshops to emerging local artists. They’ll also serve as ambassadors for Geelong Arts Centre, championing its role as a regional powerhouse for performing arts.
Whether you’re a theatre-maker, choreographer, performance artist or multidisciplinary creative, this could be the career-defining opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
