Australia’s first Female Founders Festival is happening in Melbourne in December

Female founded businesses in Melbourne are fighting back for the lack of investment in women-owned enterprises by holding the first Female Founders Festival on December 10th.

Supporting woman-owned local businesses just got a lot easier.

Coming to Melbourne in December, the Female Founders Festival is an open-to-the-public event showcasing the best of Melbourne’s female-founded products at The Commons in Collingwood.

The event is a response to recent research on start-up funding showing of all the deals completed in 2021, only  8% backed startups with all-women founding teams – a reduction from 12% in 2020. The Techboard research showed of all dollars invested, only 5% went to entirely women-founded startups, down from 8% in 2020.

The event is presented by Australia’s only 100% female-owned spirits company BABY Pink Gin and will be bringing together a long list of female creators and entrepreneurs, providing a one-stop-shop for epic local products just in time for Christmas.

“Since launching BABY Pink Gin almost three years ago, I’ve been fortunate to connect with so many other amazing female founders and their companies. So many of us operate mainly online, and don’t get many chances to connect directly, in person with our customers,” says Ellen Weigall, Founder of BABY Pink Gin and Female Founders Festival.

“I wanted to create an event that not only celebrated female-founded businesses, but made it easy for shoppers to support local when doing their Christmas shopping, and discover new brands and products outside of Instagram” she said.

“Being a solo Founder, especially a female in a male dominated industry can be very isolating, and quite lonely. Female Founders Fest has already been such a lovely way to connect with other female founders, and I’m sure we will continue to connect socially between events,” she adds.

Female Founders Festival doors will open at 10am on December 10th, where attendees will be able to purchase coffee and pastries from Francesca Caffetteria until midday. The offering will then switch to cocktails, wine, beer, pizza and fries from BABY Pink Gin, Two Birds Brewing, Tillie J Wines and Cartiboy.

DJ sets from Hunger Digital DJs will be pumping from the mezzanine all day long, while shoppers can meet the founders and shop from the likes of Paola & Joy, Zove Beauty, The Daily Routine, By Natasha Wilton, Courtney + Babes, FIGR, Azure Tan, Kobn Towels, ROEMY, Burn Candles, Margot The Brand, Becuming, Arithmos Skin, Makoha Designs, Vintage Collect, The Unnamed, FoldUp, BOURKE ST and more.

FFF is also a dog friendly event, so bring along your fur babies!

It all goes down at The Commons in Collingwood on Saturday, December 10. Find out more and register to attend here
