Melbourne's 48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar has been ranked #1 Pizzeria in Asia Pacific for 2022 and are off to the World Championship in Naples, Italy next week.
Adding one more venue to our bucket lists, Melbourne pizzeria 48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar has been named the best in the Asia Pacific.
50 Top Pizza, the most influential guide in the sector, have awarded the Victorian venue 1st place in their inaugural Asia Pacific rankings, naming 48h the Best Pizzeria in the Asia Pacific. The Melbourne venue beat out pizzerias in Beijing, Tokyo, Auckland, and other Australian venues in Sydney, Adelaide, and Melbourne.
The awards ceremony was held live for the first time in Asia at The Peninsula Bangkok Hotel where 50 Top Pizza revealed the 50 Top Pizza Asia Pacific ranking for 2022.

50 Top Pizza is an online guide to the best pizzerias in Italy and in the world. They are the first and most important online guide in this sector. The guide, updated every year, has been in existence for the last five years.
The work behind the 50 Top Pizza project begins with a large initial survey of about one thousand individuals around the world that are divided into National panels. The visits to the pizzerias are then carried out anonymously. The parameters for assessment are: the quality of the pizza (leavening and raw materials used), the service, the interior, the waiting time, and the beverage selection.

The first 15 pizzerias in the ranking have received the coveted “golden ticket,” an invitation which confirms a placement in 50 Top Pizza World 2022, the worldwide ranking which will be revealed on September 7th at Palazzo Reale in Naples.
Since its launch in 2015 in South Yarra, 48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar have taken home multiple pizza awards including the title of #1 Pizza in Australia at the Pizza World Championships 2019 with the Di Parma pizza and Best Pizzeria in Oceania 2021 also awarded by 50 Top Pizza, so they’re clearly onto a wining recipe.
This Top 50 Pizza award is extra special to 48h because it is an award not solely for their pizza but also takes into account the pizzeria as a whole; food, drinks, service and ambiance, making it even more of a must-attend dining destination.
For 48h, 48 hours is the minimum time required for pizza dough to rise. A dough that has been leavened for 48 hours with natural yeast will make your pizza light, fragrant and aromatic… just like in Italy.
