A huge BBQ Beer Festival is happening this weekend, just in time for Father’s Day

No plans for Father's Day this weekend? Consider your Sunday sorted.

If you’re looking for a relaxed and carefree Father’s Day celebration this year, perhaps indulging in barbecued meats and some of Victoria’s best craft beers could be just what you need.

Running from Friday, September 2 to Sunday, September 4, the 10,000sqm food haven of Grazeland is hosting a BBQ Beer Festival.

Keep up with the all latest local food and booze news here

Grazeland’s first event of this kind, the BBQ Beer Festival will be a match made in heaven with succulent smoky meats and plenty of featured craft beer – perfect if you’ve forgotten to book a lunch for dear old dad or you’re just looking for a fun day out with the family.

Grazeland BBQ operators will be cooking over the hot coals all weekend, including El Gaucho Argentinian Charcoal Grill, Zuya African BBQ, Mr Toum Lebanese Grill, Grillin Greeks, Flaming Skewers and newcomer Smokeworks American BBQ. Plus, there will be one large Smoker offering additional succulent smoked meats!

For this weekend only, Grazeland will feature an exclusive beer area hosting brewers Little Creatures, White Rabbit, Two Birds, Hop Nation and Henry St Brew House. Beer lovers can quench their thirst with a line-up of brews including Hop Nation’s limited releases Dark Paradise Forever Rocky Road Stout and Get the Gist Hazy IPA, the latter of which won a major trophy for best modern IPA in the 2022 Australian International Beer Awards. Festival goers will also be the first to try White Rabbit’s yet to be released Paloma Sour, a refreshing accompaniment to the charred meats.

Beer lovers wanting to up their beer game needn’t look further with masterclasses held on Friday and Saturday. Friday night’s masterclass will be a lesson in matching beer with barbecue offerings as each brewery is set to match a beer with one of the BBQ special menu items and speak through the pairing. Saturday’s first session will be a panel discussion on sour beer and hazy IPA featuring a representative from each brewery, followed by an interactive, three-round session where punters will get to blind taste a range of dark, hazy and sour beers.

Topping it all off will be a lineup of live music including the sounds of soft rock, chilled guitar and DJ’s spinning the Best of Triple J and BBQ party mix.

Treat dad to the ultimate BBQ Beer weekend from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th September! Entry is just $4 and no bookings are required. Find out more here
