ArtsACTION is here to help you grow your career, build your business, step up your organisation, or connect with other creatives across Victoria and beyond with this free upskilling and professional development program for creatives, supported by the City of Greater Geelong in partnership with Jump Leads via Pop-Up Art (biz who supports professional and emerging artists as the cornerstone to creativity and innovation for communities) and seven other Victorian Shires.

The program is designed to support locals involved in the creative industries to get into action, work collaboratively, and refine innovative methods for success. It will assist in activating career pathways, broadening networks and building market reach, all things that are incredibly crucial to the arts sector in this current climate.

The ArtsACTION program offers a six-part email resource pack, weekly Zoom workshops, and access to a growing network. The program is delivered entirely online in four workshop series from August 2021 through to April 2022.

Cr Eddy Kontelj, Chair of the Arts, Live Entertainment and Hospitality portfolio said the program is a great opportunity to learn new skills and connect with other creatives.

“I encourage creatives in Greater Geelong to consider signing up to ArtsACTION, as it will provide guidance on growing your career and giving you that competitive edge for success.”

ArtsACTION was originally initiated thanks to funding from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund in partnership with the City of Greater Bendigo, Mount Alexander Shire, Macedon Ranges Shire, and Hepburn Shire in 2019-2020. It was delivered for Golden Plains Shire in early 2020 and then eight more regional communities in the second half of 2020, including East Gippsland Shire Council, Wellington Shire Council, South Gippsland Shire Council, Bass Coast Shire Council, Murrindindi Shire Council, Mitchell Shire Council, Strathbogie Shire Council, Greater Shepparton City Council.

Alongside City of Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast Shire Council, the program will be delivered across Central Goldfields Shire Council, City of Ballarat, Melton City Council, Moorabool Shire Council, Mildura Rural City Council and Swan Hill Rural City Council for 2021.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“I am finding ArstACTION very inspiring. I saw ArtsACTION advertised and thought, ‘this is something I need to do,’ with marketing my prints in mind. I am really enjoying listening to the discussions, and learning what other artists have experienced, and their thoughts on the marketing process. It is interesting to learn that most of us fear this process,” says past participant and photographer Keith Haggett.

“I hope to gain some knowledge from ArtsACTION on how best to market my work, what steps to take, and how to have the confidence and belief in my work to get it out there in the marketplace.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It will be delivered entirely online from August 2021 to April 2022. You can find out more about previous programs here.
