Officially opening on Friday, January 22 in Shorts Place, after more than a year in the works, Dribbles Burgers is the place to go to watch the world’s greatest athletes while satisfying your hunger cravings and undying affection for meat in a bun.
Joining an area already eager for fabulous food, with the likes of Pistol Pete’s, Hot Chicken Project, Tacos Y Liquor and SOBA Ramen nearby, this will be the second location for the family-friendly basketball-mad Essendon business, who have been delivering the goods to Melbourne burger-lovers for the past five years.
Cementing their place in Essendon for stacks that are off-the-charts delicious and NBA theme, it’s clear Dribbles Burgers can handle the expansion to Geelong, especially when they’ll be serving up the existing much-loved and drool-inducing menu of some of Melbourne’s best burgers.

Committing to the basketball theme, the burgers littering the menu are all named after some of the game’s biggest stars. You’ll find a Jordan Royale, a Lebron Burner, Bosh’s Brisket, Landry’s Field, and our personal favourite, the Shaq Stack – a Shaquille O’Neal inspired double beef, double cheese, double bacon, caramelised onion, tomato, lettuce, mustard, Dribbles sauce and BBQ burger. A worthy name for a worthy burger. There’s also a gluten-free option if you’d rather swap your buns for a lettuce leaf and a Kyries Tofu caters to vegans with miso marinated tofu, vegan kewpie mayo, bean shoot slaw, sriracha and a charcoal bun.
Others items to look out for are the Buffalo Wings (coasted in house-made buffalo sauce), jalapeno poppers, cheese and bacon chicken ribs, mac and cheese bites, and what our personal daydreams are made of, the CBF Washington hot dog. We’re talking smoked hot dog, mustard, fries, cheese sauce, bacon, tomato sauce and spring onions.
Bringing cheesy, meat-covered happiness into Little Malop Street, Dribbles also happen to do some absolutely kickass loaded fries. With two options to choose from there’s the Cheese & Bacon (crunchy fries with cheese sauce, crispy bacon and spring onion) or the Chilli Cheese (crunchy fries topped with chilli beef, jalapenos, spring onion and cheese sauce).
You’re going to need a milkshake to wash them down with, and you’ll be safe in the knowledge that they have a range of flavours to choose from, including choc cookie, salted caramel, peanut butter cup and the sugar-loaded strawberry pop tart. If you’re feeling something a little bit more frothy, Dribbles also boasts a bevvy of bevvies, with both international and local craft brews on the menu.
It’s not only the name and the menu that pays tribute to the great game, with bright urban graffiti lining the walls (courtesy of Set It Off Melbourne), wall-mounted TVs where you can watch the best of the NBA, and a seriously innovative kids play area, complete with a basketball ring where all their slam-dunk dreams can come true.
