Live at the Bowl will feature live music, comedy, festivals and more.

As part of the Victorian government’s roadmap to recovery in collaboration with City of Melbourne and Arts Centre Melbourne, a massive program of open-air performances is coming to Sidney Myer Music Bowl this summer.

Titled Live at the Bowl, the mammoth performance series aims to help revive the creative, events and hospitality sectors with COVID-safe events celebrating Melbourne’s incredible music and arts communities.

Taking place across the summer months, the first Live at the Bowl lineup announcement has arrived and it is a bloody doozy. Featuring live music, comedy, festivals and more, you can expect performances from the likes of Sampa The Great, Human Nature, Running Touch, Busby Marou, Daryl Braithwaite, Hannah Gadsby, Zoë Coombs Marr, Missy Higgins, Northeast Party House, and loads more.

Kicking off on Friday January 8 with a Welcome Ceremony and concert featuring Spinifex Gum – a music project created by The Cat Empire’s Felix Fiebl and Ollie McGill with the Indigenous female group, Marliya Choir, and Emma Donovan – Live at the Bowl showcases the incredible range of local talent with a genre-spanning lineup boasting classic and contemporary acts.

As part of the epic program, Piknic Électronik, Share The Spirit Festival and Sun Cycle Festival will also take over the outdoor amphitheatre across the coming months, marking the welcomed return of summer music festivals.

To keep punters safe, The Bowl will be transformed to feature purpose-built, environmentally-mindful private decks for groups of four-six on the main lawn. There will also be a reduced capacity audiences with enforced physical distancing measures, contactless bars and an array of food trucks available via QR code or through the Hungry Hungry app.

Due to the reduced numbers, booking is absolutely essential – even for free events – and you’d better get in quick before tickets get snapped up.
