Start preparing yourselves for the inevitable echoes of “shoulda been higher”, triple j has just unveiled all the important dates and details around the world’s biggest music democracy aka the Hottest 100, something we can look forward to after another whirlwind year.
Every year, triple j listeners are given their chance to vote on the hottest songs of the year, culminating in an epic countdown to the coveted top spot.

Voting is now open, so it’s time to start trimming your shortlist. Simply head to the triple j website or the triple j app to submit your votes and show some love for the tracks that soundtracked your 2023.
This time the big countdown itself will be happening on Saturday, 27 January, for a massive listening party as triple j count down the Hottest 100 songs of the year, as voted by you. While it’s always a great excuse to party with your mates all day listening to music, it’s also a chance to reflect on the year that was and thank the artists that helped us get through it.
For those keen on a long weekend, you’ll also be able to tune in to hear the songs that almost made it on Sunday 28 January from 10am AEDT as triple j countdown the Hottest 200 songs of 2022.
Last year’s countdown was one for the history books, with over 2.4 million votes and two massive Hottest 100 records. Now is your chance to have your say and help us cook up something special for 2023.
