Beloved Group Reunites Down Under with Hawthorne Heights and The World Alive.
Good news for Australian Anberlin fans! The U.S. alt-rock favourites are set to make their triumphant return to the land down under in January 2024, with a tour that promises to be a special treat for their dedicated following.
This marks Anberlin’s first visit to Australia since 2019, and it’s a comeback that’s been eagerly anticipated by fans who have long considered the country their second home. But there’s an added layer of significance to this tour: it will serve as a farewell run for the band’s beloved vocalist and songwriter, Stephen Christian.

For Stephen Christian, this tour will be a truly momentous occasion. Having recently announced an indefinite hiatus from touring, these Australian shows will double as a heartfelt farewell from the singer to the fans who’ve supported the band throughout their illustrious career. In Stephen’s words:
“There is not a country outside the United States that Anberlin is more connected to or embraced as much as Australia, and this will be our 12th trip to this incredible country. From our first show in Adelaide, to then writing a song about it, and years later having a 9-year-old girl named Adelaide come on stage and sing that very song with us to a massive sold-out show in Sydney we have SO many core memories created on that soil.
It is absolutely fitting that I am taking a final bow in Australia before taking a long hiatus from touring. I appreciate you Australia and can’t wait to sing along one final time.”
The return of Anberlin in recent years has been a godsend for fans worldwide. What began as a one-off show in 2018, supporting Underoath in the U.S., soon turned into a full-blown renaissance for the Florida-based group. New musical inspiration led ANBERLIN back to the studio in 2020.
Even in the face of the pandemic, ANBERLIN remained undeterred, determined to power through and deliver new music. The result was two EPs: “Silverline” in 2022 and “Convinced” in 2023, both serving as a gratifying reward for long-time fans and a perfect introduction for newcomers.
Joining Anberlin on this Australian journey will be two special guests, who are no strangers to the alt-rock scene.
HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS, renowned for their fusion of post-rock and emo, have enjoyed a resurgence in recent years. Their 2021 album “The Rain Just Follows Me” reaffirmed their place in the emo world, delighting both long-time and new fans alike. Similarly, THE WORD ALIVE has witnessed a revitalization, marked by their vividly arranged and executed music. In August 2023, they released “Hard Reset,” their seventh studio album, which boldly explored wide-ranging perspectives and observations on the human condition. The result? A redefined sound for a new chapter.
