Torquay’s Street Fiesta

With the weather warming up, there is simply no better time to enjoy life’s small pleasures – delicious food, tempting wine, tasty coffee and talented live music. Soak up the weather and enjoy all these pleasures at once for a spring Sunday session at this years’ Bell Street Fiesta.

As part of the Drink Arts Food Torquay weekend, this local fiesta has something for everyone – art exhibitions, skateboarding ramps and demos, bungee jumping, inflatable games, kids entertainment (think jumping castles, face painting and a stage performance with Willow Star and Andy Magee), as well as free wine and beer tasting. And best of all? Entry is only five dollars, with primary school children free.

The fiesta focuses on local produce and products, breweries and wineries from within the Surf Coast region. A main feature of the event are the live bands, featuring the Surf Coast’s own local musicians, DJs and performances across three stages.

Appearing the Bell Street Fiesta includes the likes of:

Kite Machine
Coined as loud, funky and completely ballistic, these guys are Geelong’s premier riff-driven funk rock export. Formed in 2011, the trio (Levi Anderson, Kane Sherriff and Liam Brennan), has made their way into the independent music scene with their tight grooves and infectious energy as their signature. Expect an electric live show.

Old Feather
Hailing from the Surf Coast, Old Feather channels a mix between gypsy, folk and rock since 2014. The six piece formation creates tracks without any specific genre in mind with folky undertone due to the story telling lyrics. Prepare for upbeat vibes with the variety of instruments and styles these guys hone – including harmonicas, trumpets and violins.

Madhouse
With 18 years behind them, Madhouse is a nine-member brass driven party band. Channelling a range of sounds from RnB and the early 80s UK music, they include both old and new disco dance music for a real live party performance. Known for their entertaining and energetic lives shows, the street will be filled with Madhouse mayhem.

Flawed Peace and Squid will also be taking to the stage throughout the day. With six hours of entertainment, the street will come alive, making for the perfect end to the week.
