The large scale, world class classical music festival returns, celebrating chamber music, community spirit and the City of Greater Bendigo.

Celebrate classical chamber music, community spirit and the City of Greater Bendigo at the spectacular annual Bendigo Chamber Music Festival from Wednesday February 1, 2023 to Sunday February 5, 2023.

Showcasing 14 live music concerts that combine the very best Australian and emerging classical artists, the Bendigo Chamber Music Festival will take place across multiple iconic and historic venues throughout Bendigo – two hours drive from Melbourne’s CBD.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

The large-scale, world-class classical music festival is created by co-directors Chris Howlett and Howard Penny who have united to bring their love of chamber music to life in this regional festival.

Based on three monumental pillars, the festival consists of mainstage performances, community engagement programs and in-depth educational programs.

The community engagement program will bring together community choirs and or orchestras from around Australia with local Bendigo groups for an intensive rehearsal period and mainstage performance. It will also see world class international artists work with local community groups in workshops, side by side projects as well as public and private masterclasses.

A festival of celebration, new partnerships and the welcoming back of dear friends, the Bendigo Chamber Music Festival will see the most exciting talents from Europe come to Bendigo exclusively. This year, the classical festival will feature two extraordinary artists – Leeds Piano Competition Prize winner Ariel Lanyi and Classic FM’s 2022 Rising Star Artist, clarinettist, Jonathan Leibovitz.

With a return to original showcase venues in 2023, there is always a wonderfully varied offering of chamber music at the Bendigo Chamber Music Festival: virtuosic fireworks; chamber masterworks for horn and clarinet; trios, quartets, quintets and sextets with so many different instrument combinations; two Australian world premieres; and even a work for 2 pianos, 2 cellos and horn. All there for guests to exclusively savour at the 2023 Bendigo Chamber Music Festival!

Tickets start from $30 per performance with multiple package tickets also available on the official Bendigo Chamber Music Festival website – so make sure to book now before it’s too late!
