For the first time in its history, the folk festival will also be making its way to locations outside of Victoria.

Vikki Thorn and several other beloved Australian folk artists are all endeavouring on a massive tour this coming February.

Keep The Circle Unbroken was a show originating in 2020 that pays tribute to one of the biggest albums of all time; Will The Circle Be Unbroken by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Since its return post-pandemic, it’s now boasting several dates outside of Victoria.

What this tour does so well is the attitude behind folk. Not only will the renowned Vikki Thorn be joining the roots band Row Jerry Crow, but it’ll be a completely rotating band with mixed performances from many other artists. The feeling of an open roster for musicians to collaborate and jam is fundamentally folk, and that’s one thing this tour does so well.

As an explorative show, it also searches the emerging counterculture that occurred during the Vietnam War era. It highlights and explores the history of the US youth becoming increasingly unruly in the face of their involvement in Vietnam. It defines so much about what can of worms was opened when the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band released their album 50 years ago, and it’s all done in an extremely honest, direct, intimate setting.

The tour will be coming to Tasmania for the first time with one show, and Adelaide with two. 2020 is a seemingly grim year to remember live music, however now the tour has come back bigger than ever. Its future looks increasingly promising.
