Offering one of the most spectacular marathons in the world, the event will see roads between Apollo Bay and Lorne sealed off over the weekend of May 15-16 allowing running, young and old, take in the panoramic seaside views and high cliffs by foot.

Following last year’s online event, the annual two-day festival has expanded to eight events with more than 6000 runners anticipated to hit the scenic road.

Catering to runners of all distances, events on Saturday include a 14-kilometre Paradise Run and Wheelchair Race, the Sri Lankan Airlines six-kilometre run and the Great Ocean Road Real Estate 1.5-kilometre kids gallop.

On Sunday, runners can take part in the 60-kilometre Science in Sport Ultramarathon, the 44-kilometre Kieser Marathon, and the Suunto Trail with 6.5-kilometre or 13-kilometre options.
There’s also the Science in Sport 23-kilometre half marathon and the Lorne Hotel Great Ocean Road Walk (at five kilometres or 10 kilometres).

Races start at different points between Apollo Bay and Lorne. There are also shuttle buses taking participants between the two towns throughout the weekend.

Unlike your regular running events, there’s also a number of other events to keep everyone entertained across the festival hubs in Lorne and Apollo Bay, including a kite festival, a petting farm, yoga sessions by the beach and a whole afternoon of live music.

The running festival runs from Saturday, 15 May to Sunday, 16 May 2021. Registrations are now open so round up your running mates and get involved here.
