Pioneering a new era in music since their formation in 1977, The Human League were one of the first bands to use computers and sequencers to create rhythm and music paving the way for the decades of electronic music that were to follow. In 1982, the Sydney Morning Herald was already describing them as ‘one of the first futurist bands.’

United by a shared vision of pushing the boundaries of avant-garde electronic music, The Human League captivated audiences with their cutting-edge visuals and mind-blowing light displays, taking their performances to a whole new level. Their early singles like Being Boiled drew in dedicated fans, but it was the release of the chart-topping hit Don’t You Want Me that catapulted them to international stardom, initiating the second wave of the British Invasion in the United States and sparking a revolution in the electronic, avant-garde music scene.

With an impressive discography boasting nine studio albums since 1979, The Human League proved their staying power, with five top 20 hits in the UK and two top 40 hits in the US. Dare, their 1981 masterpiece, stole the hearts of millions, reaching number one on charts in the UK, Sweden, New Zealand, and Canada, while peaking at an impressive number three on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album featured not only the platinum-selling anthem Don’t You Want Me but also other timeless tracks like Open Your Heart and Love Action (I Believe In Love).

Their influence is undeniable, having sold over 20 million records worldwide and leaving an indelible mark on the music industry. Renowned artists such as Moby, the Pet Shop Boys, and Little Boots credit The Human League for shaping their sound and style, solidifying the band’s status as true trailblazers.
