Prepare yourselves, chocoholics, because this August, the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie is bringing back its annual Hot Chocolate Festival, serving up a staggering array of 31 delicious and tantalizing hot chocolate flavours to warm your soul throughout the entire month.

Just like the Rocky Road Festival, Ice Cream Festival, and Brownie Festival that have stolen our hearts before, the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie (alongside other venues the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and the Mornington Peninsula Chocolaterie) will enchant you with its hot chocolate wonderland. Whether you choose to savour the experience in their delightful café or indulge in the comfort of your own home with their DIY hot chocolate kits, prepare for a cocoa-infused journey like no other.

For those lucky enough to visit in person, a stunning lineup of eight decadent, whimsical, and over-the-top hot chocolate flavours will be available on-site each week during the festival, with special ‘Showstopper’ concoctions exclusive to visitors to the Chocolaterie.
Each on-site hot chocolate comes with an extra shot of hot couverture chocolate, in dark, milk, white, ruby or caramel, complemented by the likes of melting chocolate discs, extra treats like waffles, pretzels and caramel koalas, and flavour-infusing syringes, and of course, that essential handcrafted giant marshmallow—guaranteed to transport you to a state of pure chocolate bliss.
The full list of flavours are yet to drop, but already the venues are teasing the anticipated concoctions, including a Barbie-inspired pink-infused hot chocolate, an Iced Vovo hot choccy with chocolate iced doughnuts, a Happy Vegemite hot chocolate, and even a dulce de leche churros hot chocolate. Word is there’s also a Harry Potter-inspired hot chocolate with a chocolate wand for dipping. Talk about a dream come true!
For a more immersive experience, the Hot Chocolate Festival also presents hot chocolate tasting sessions for $24. In these 45-minute hands-on classes, you’ll have the chance to sip and sample eight amazing flavors, and make your very own creation to take home to whisk up anytime. Yum! These sessions are a must, so be sure to secure your spot for a truly unforgettable hot chocolate adventure.
Many of the festival flavors will be available for purchase online as DIY kits, ensuring that chocolate enthusiasts all over can partake in the cocoa magic. However, some exclusive flavors will be reserved for the on-site experience, so don’t miss your chance to explore the full spectrum of chocolate delights.
