Following the success of the 2023 edition, which drew an impressive 375,000 festivalgoers, the 43rd St Kilda Festival is gearing up to showcase an electrifying line-up of homegrown talent across multiple stages. Kicking off with the First Peoples First day on Saturday, highlighting the rich tapestry of Indigenous voices, the festival will seamlessly transition into the traditional Big Festival Sunday.

Headlining Big Festival Sunday on 18 February are the acclaimed electronica, hip hop, and indie-pop artist Mallrat from Brisbane, alongside the much-adored Sydney electronic musical duo Bag Raiders. Meanwhile, the First Peoples First day on 17 February will see neo-soul sensation Mo’Ju take the stage, ensuring a diverse and dynamic musical experience for all.

Returning to both days is the Singing Our Futures program, presented by the Archie Roach Foundation. The initiative focuses on mentoring emerging First Nations artists in songwriting and recording. More than 60 additional acts scheduled for the Festival weekend will be unveiled on 17 January, along with the full program.

A highlight of the Festival is the New Music Competition, presented by JBL, taking place on Sunday. This hotly contested event provides emerging musicians with a platform to shine, with the winner receiving $5,000 and a coveted spot on the Main Stage at St Kilda Festival in 2025.

Stages will be scattered across St Kilda for Big Festival Sunday, including the family-friendly O’Donnell Gardens Stage, the Main Stage on South Beach Reserve, the Triangle Stage, the 18+ Cointreau Summer Stage, and the Locals Stage at Acland Plaza. Roving performers and buskers will add to the lively atmosphere throughout the precinct.

St Kilda Festival’s diverse program encompasses live Australian music, dance performances, workshops, sports demonstrations, community activities, food and market stalls, extended business trading, roving entertainment, and a dedicated family-friendly stage. As one of Australia’s largest and longest-running free music and cultural events, the Festival not only entertains but also brings significant economic benefits to St Kilda while celebrating and promoting Australian talent. Stay tuned for the full program announcement on 17 January.
