Legendary Midnight Oil frontman will release a new solo album in March called The True North recorded with his band The Alter Egos.

The iconic Midnight Oil frontman, Peter Garrett, has just announced that two extra shows are in the pipeline to wrap up his 2024 tour in celebration of his upcoming solo masterpiece, The True North. The album, a sonic gift to the masses, hits the airwaves on March 15, 2024.

Peter and his band The Alter Egos (which features the Oils Martin Rotsey on guitar and Heather Shannon from The Jezabels on keys) will perform at Newcastle City Hall on Tuesday March 12 with special guests, Raintalker . The show will form part of the annual Great Southern Nights concert series, presented across the State by Destination NSW and ARIA.

Due to popular demand a second night has been added for Melbourne’s Thornbury Theatre on Thursday March 21. All tickets for the first show at that venue have now sold out.

These shows are the grand finale of Peter’s March tour, coinciding with the unveiling of his second solo album, “The True North.” Already making waves are two soul-stirring tracks from the collection – the epic title track and the radio sensation ‘Innocence Part 1,’ currently dominating the airwaves on the Triple M radio network.

In addition to his own headlining tour, Peter Garrett and The Alter Egos are set to conquer festivals with special sets at Riverboats and Bluesfest, plus a one-off show in New Zealand for Waitangi Day.
