The judges commented “Future Creatives 2023 presents an impressive selection of works across a variety of media including painting, drawing, ceramics, video, sculpture, printmaking and digital art. Several of the shortlisted artists have responded to urgent social and political issues with great sophistication, sensitivity, and creativity. These include the climate crisis, political responsibility and accountability; gender equity; Queer representation; and the effects of social media and consumer culture on mental health. Other artists have engaged poetically with their immediate surrounds, finding inspiration in the natural world, literature and the imagination.”

The exhibition is supported by Creative Futures Design Fund, providing a valuable opportunity to support the professional development of students and assists in facilitating future tertiary studies in art and design.

The exhibition runs from Saturday 4 February to Monday 13 March 2023 This exhibition will be on public display in the Geelong Gallery Learn Space.
