In a bold departure from tradition, the Mardi Gras Debutante Ball by Johnnie Walker will unfold at the iconic Kinselas in Darlinghurst, transforming the venue into a grand space of inclusivity, shedding light on the rich tapestry of queer identities.

Teaming up with the effervescent Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Johnnie Walker aims to inspire and celebrate those who, until now, have not had the chance to attend Mardi Gras. Natalie, making her Mardi Gras debut since coming out, is set to perform her fan favourites at the Debutante Ball as part of this vibrant partnership.

“Being able to attend my first Mardi Gras as a new member of the queer community, surrounded with so much love, joy and acceptance is so special to me,” Bassingthwaighte says in a statement, “and what’s even more special is knowing that I get to share this memorable experience with other First Timers of diverse queer identities.”

Joining the celebration will be LGBTQIA+ trailblazers and Mardi Gras custodians, including Robyn Kennedy, a 78er and LGBTQIA+ advocate who attended the first-ever Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in 1978. Other notable attendees include Making It Australia judge Benja Harney and trans couture designer couple Katie Louise Nicol-Ford and Lilian Nicol-Ford.
