The Thai mainstay has unveiled a collection of lively new dishes that honour the traditional flavours of Thailand.

Thai food is born out of hot weather. The rich, sweet tropical fruits heavy with nectar, the zingy spice of chilli, the satisfying umami of fresh seafood… Thai cuisine’s staple flavours depend on the sticky, humid conditions.

When the summer rolls around in Australia, our cravings change from rich, hearty comfort foods to something a little lighter. In celebration of its fourth anniversary as well as the return of summer, Miss Ping’s has debuted a range of brand-new dishes and drinks that centre around seasonal ingredients, showcasing iconic Thai flavours in a way that caters to the Australian palette.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

One of the standouts from the new menu is the ever-impressive Mama Noodles – a massive cauldron of bubbling Tom Yum broth topped with crispy pork belly, meatballs and a medley of seafood. Elsewhere, find an extra-fresh iteration of the restaurant’s famous Son Tam (Green Papaya Salad) topped with slices of salmon sashimi and the rich yet delicate Chu Chee Curry with Barramundi.

The Miss Ping’s cocktail menu has also had a bit of a warm-weather makeover. The Bangkok Nights is a standout – creamy Thai milk tea is met with a kick of Khalua. The refreshing Sunset Breeze is a great choice for non-alcohol drinkers, although it tastes just as good with an added shot of vodka or gin. The new additions join classics lime the Miss Ping’s Spritz, which brings together zesty aromatic flavours of coriander, ginger, fresh pineapple and lime.

Miss Ping’s Founder and Director Winnie Chiang is dedicated to sharing the joys of Thai cuisine with diners across Melbourne. In the four years since the company’s inception, she’s opened locations at The District Docklands and The Glen Shopping Centre and introduced countless customers to beloved Thai dishes.

“We have selected items that are authentic and true to Thai culture and flavours whilst being appealing to the Australian consumer. We want to celebrate dishes that are different but connected to stories and Thai culture,” she say.
