For another year, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Neighbourhood Sessions are venturing beyond the CBD and bringing the laughs to the suburbs.

Akmal, Ali McGregor and Arj Barker are just some of the stars in the mix for this year’s highly-anticipated Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Stacked with a program of acclaimed and emerging performers across Wednesday 27 March to Sunday 21 April, the festival is a one stop-shop for belly-laughs and sore cheeks.

For another year, the Festival is venturing beyond the CBD and bringing a dose of laughter to the suburbs, making it easier than ever for comedy enthusiasts to enjoy top-notch entertainment right in their own backyard. The program will be hitting Essendon, Caroline Springs, Williamstown, Moorabbin and Werribee between Saturday 16 March and Saturday 13 April, bringing with them a class of comedians.

Neighbourhood Sessions will showcase local and International comics, alongside celebrated festival favourites and promising stand-ups, set to get everyone giggling. The Werribee show will take place on Saturday 13 April at Wyndham Cultural Centre, hosted by the man, the mullet, the legend Brett Blake. Known for his “bogan-genius” stand-up styling, the stop into Wyndham comes ahead of his national tour, appropriately titled the Grip It & Rip It Comedy Tour

Comedy fans will be pleased to see a television personality in the mix for the show. As a regular on Channel 10’s Have You Been Paying Attention? and comedy writer for The Project, one of Australia’s most promising comedians Bron Lewis joins the line up. Locals will be able to catch a snippet of her solo show Obviously which is on at The Westin Two throughout the Festival.

Fellow Have You Been Paying Attention? star and writer on The Project is Alex Ward. The punch-lines come thick and fast with Ward, so be prepared for fits upon fits. The night will also feature the hilarious David Quirk, after his 2023 hit Astonishing Obscurity.

With a roster of Internationals set to take on Melbourne over the month, British standup Darren Harriott is also on the bill, giving audiences a chance to catch a sneak peek of his new hour. From Roadman – British slang for a young gangster and the title of his solo MICF show at The Westin One – to showman, Harriott turns his life into comedy. As a double Edinburgh Award nominee, host of Live at the Apollo, series regular on Love Island: After Sun and co-host of The Shame Is Delicious podcast, Harriott is a must-see.

The laughter can be heard at Wyndham Cultural Centre on Saturday 13 April. Tickets are available here.
