Macedon Ranges’ Wine and Food Budburst Festival returns for 2022

Budburst is back with a fresh, new flavour.

Raise your glasses, the Budburst Wine Festival returns with a reinvigorated version of the much-loved Macedon Ranges event from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th November 2022.

After a forced two-year hiatus, the Macedon Wine and Food Budburst Festival is back showcasing the diversity and quality of wine and food being produced in the Macedon region and is a key annual event that promotes the Macedon Ranges as a leading grape growing and winemaking region.

Keep up with the latest food and booze news across the region here.

Located less than an hour’s drive from the Melbourne CBD, Macedon Ranges is unique as it is Australia’s coolest wine-producing climate and Budburst is a once-a-year opportunity to come behind the vines and meet the family owned and small batch makers that shape its coolest wine region.

Budburst begins with the inaugural Budburst Blooms to mark the festival opening by bringing pop up cellar doors from wineries off the beaten path to local hubs in Kyneton, Woodend, Lancefield and Daylesford on Friday 18th November from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.

On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November more than 20 winemakers across the region will swing open their cellar doors and welcome guests for guided tastings alongside varied menus championing local produce and live music. Participating vineyards range from first-timers Red Hare Estate, Northern Hope Winery and Attwoods wines to Budburst stalwarts Hanging Rock Winery, Curly Flat and Cobaw Ridge.

Guests can choose to go their own way and travel independently between the vineyards and festival hubs or book a place on one of the two Budburst Hoppa bus routes, with the new Daylesford Drive being added alongside the Lancefield Loop for the very first time. These hop-on services stop at up to five wineries on two designated routes, allowing guests to taste and explore the diverse wine styles grown and produced across the region – from Merlot to Shiraz; Chardonnay to Riesling; Sparkling to Pinot Noir.

Sounds like an ideal weekend to us!!

Budburst Wine Festival Macedon Ranges runs from November 18 to November 20 across various locations across Macedon Wine Region. Festival tickets go on sale from Monday 19th September with bus tickets available from Saturday 1st October. Book tickets at budburst.com.
