Legendary rockers Radio Birdman celebrate 50th anniversary with shows in 2024

Radio Birdman, legendary outsiders of Australian rock and roll and ARIA Hall of Famers, celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2024 with shows in June and July.

Prepare to dive headfirst into the annals of Australian rock history as Radio Birdman, the iconic pioneers of outsider rock, gear up to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2024. This monumental milestone will be commemorated with a series of electrifying farewell shows across June and July, promising fans an unforgettable journey through five decades of rock ‘n’ roll rebellion.

The “Birdman 5-0!” tour will kick off on Friday, June 21 at the Croxton Bandroom in Melbourne, followed by a second show on Saturday, June 22. They’ll then make their way to The Gov in Adelaide on Sunday, June 23, before heading north to The Triffid in Brisbane for back-to-back performances on Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29. The tour will culminate with a three-night residency at Manning Bar in Sydney on Friday, July 5, Saturday, July 6 (both shows sold out!), and a newly added show on Sunday, July 7.

For those unfamiliar with Radio Birdman’s storied legacy, they’re not your run-of-the-mill rock band – they’re the real deal. Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, these trailblazers rewrote the rulebook of the Australian music scene through sheer determination and an unapologetic commitment to their craft.

Their enigmatic logo, an emblem of their enduring mystique, has become an emblematic symbol adorning the bodies of a global legion of devoted fans, as well as their cars, surfboards, and beyond. With half a century under their belt, Radio Birdman’s upcoming performances are poised to cement their status as true icons of Australian rock.

To coincide with this monumental occasion, Citadel Records will be reissuing Radio Birdman’s explosive 2014 album, “Live At Paddington Town Hall 12th December 1977,” adding another layer of excitement to the celebrations.
