Drama King sees Bibby teaming up with producer Dan Luscombe for the first time, a move that promises a fresh sonic direction for the artist. Luscombe’s pedigree, having worked with Aussie heavy hitters like The Drones and Amyl and the Sniffers, convinced Bibby that he was in good hands. Further enhancing the album’s sound, Bibby headed to Los Angeles to collaborate with White Denim’s Josh Block on mixing duties.

Reflecting on the album, Bibby notes a shift in his lyrical approach from his earlier days as a hard-partying rebel to a more introspective and responsible individual. Tracks like “The Arsehole” showcase this evolution, blending self-reflection with biting wit in a way only Bibby can pull off.

Speaking about the single, Bibby says, “The arsehole is the grand finale on the digestive rollercoaster of most living creatures, it is also the name of my brand new song, The Arsehole. Featuring drums, guitars, human vocals and keyboards, the song works its way around two chords, quickly touching on a third towards the end to keep you, the listener, intrigued.”

With its candid lyrics and infectious melodies, “Drama King” promises to be a standout addition to Bibby’s repertoire. The album’s production process, which involved collaboration with Luscombe, has allowed Bibby to refine his songs into something truly special.

Bibby expresses his satisfaction with the collaboration, saying, “It was the first time I’d worked with a producer, and I prepared for it knowing that my songs were going to get chopped up and shortened. I’m glad I did, because for the most part, Dan was like, oh, you’ve already solved every problem I had with these.”
