Jousting, derived from the Old French word “joster” meaning “to approach” or “to meet,” has deep roots in medieval martial culture. Originally a military exercise for heavy cavalry, jousting evolved into a specialized sport during the late Middle Ages. While it declined in popularity in the 17th century, modern enthusiasts have revived its spirit through re-enactments and tournaments like the Australian Jousting Championships.

So, mark your calendars and prepare to witness history come to life at Kryal Castle as Australia’s best jousters clash in a spectacle of skill, courage, and medieval pageantry. Don your finest attire, raise your banners high and join us for a weekend of unforgettable excitement at the Australian Jousting Championships.
