Hecho En Mexico brings fresh and playful Mexican cuisine to Geelong’s waterfront

1 / 5

The business is celebrating its arrival in Geelong with $10 Margs (classic only) and $5 Tacos for the next two weeks!

If you love authentic, freshly made, lip-smacking street-style Mexican food (and tequila) and you’re based in Geelong, then we have some very tasty news for you!

A seriously happening little spot on the Geelong Waterfront, previously King George’s Fish and Grill, Hecho En Mexico is the brand-new shopfront that’s about to become overflowing with eager taco enthusiasts.

Opening its bright, light-filled space on Friday, August 12, this little gem promises a paradise of tacos and margaritas.

Keep up with the latest local food and booze news here.

Concerned with authenticity first and foremost, Hecho En Mexico was created by hospitality veterans Menak Grover and Parveen Bajar with the aim to take customers on a culinary journey to Mexico City and beyond.

Pouring margaritas near across Victoria for a few years now, with nine spots in Melbourne and one in Warrnambool, this new venue marks the business’s 11th outpost and its second foray into regional Victoria.

Like the zesty margaritas made fresh every day, Hecho En Mexico is here to shake things up on Geelong’s busiest strip with a reputation for being the “fun, youthful, and a little bit playful” Mexican joint.

With a vibrant decor, down-to-earth staff and an exciting atmosphere that has customers talking about long after they’ve polished off their burritos, here it’s all about great chill vibes and lively flavours with a twist of fun.

Boasting the mantra “fresh is best” practiced throughout their restaurants, Hecho en Mexico is creating fresh Mexican food and cocktails everyday, with a menu that mirrors their youthful and fun energy. The seriously extensive menu is packed to the brim with entrees, tacos, burritos, mains, burgers, salads and dessert. The menu is kid friendly and designed to offer gluten free options.

Think Jalisco Style Birria tacos, chilli fries, street style corn, smoked stuffed jalapenos, quesadillas, chimichanga, burritos rolled with warm tortillas (eyes on the California Burrito) and their famous nachos with in-house made fresh salsas, fresh guacamole, and marinades.

There’s also Spanish Paella, Fajita, Enchiladas, onion rings, Habanero chicken wings, and taquitos, while desserts include cinnamon nachos, Mexican warm churros, Nutella burrito and sizzling brownie. To top it all off, there’s even a dedicated vegan menu with all your favourites featuring.

If you’re looking for icy cold jugs of sangria, and a long list of tequilas and mezcals to match the bright and buzzing atmosphere and hefty burritos, you’ve come to the right place. Taste your way through eight different margaritas, impressive cocktails, beers, wine, and Tequila flights if you dare. There’s also ‘dirty shots’, soft drinks and mocktails to round it all out.

There’s also outdoor seating in front of the restaurant — perfect for balmy summer nights.

From the juicy limes squeezed and twisted into their cocktails and margaritas, to the house-made nachos and quesadillas, this mouthwatering Mexican food is like no other. Run, don’t walk.

Hecho En Mexico is located at 100 Western Beach Rd, Geelong and is open for lunch and dinner every single day. Find out more via the website here
