With the work-year basically over, why not kick-off the celebrations with an epic free gig at this Geelong bar.

So it’s Christmas time, and in between stuffing your face with cold meats and unwrapping presents, it’s time you headed out and listened to some sweet local music.

Lucky for us, the new champion of the Geelong rock and roll scene Medusa Bar is hosting a free local gig this Friday night.

Keep up with the latest music news, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Located in Geelong’s historic Rock O’Cashel Lane, Medusa is brought to us by the familiar faces behind Valhalla Brewing & Taproom and is earning quite the reputation for its divey flair, focusing on beers, vinyl DJs, movies nights and some unreal happy hour specials. Becoming quite a hub for local events, from lowercase poetry nights and Fem Punk Nights, the venue is also getting behind the local music scene, now hosting regular musicians and gigs.

Kicking off from 7pm on Friday, December 23 2022, the double headline gig will feature local bands Green Blanket and Sargent Baker.

Hailing from Geelong and The Surf Coast, Green Blanket are four friends that create riffs and spit jargon. The four founding members are Ming, Tanamanimal, Wayno and Boomer and have since been making a name for themselves with their off kilter tracks of love, despair, hate, comic relief and ambience.

Joining Green Blanket is Surf Coast grunge rock trio Sargent Baker who have been regulars on the local gig circuit this year off the back of their debut EP Crisis.

Alongside the local bands, the venue will also see vinyl spun by Cosmic Microwave and Degs In Space until 1am.

This one’s free entry so make sure you head on down.

Medusa is located at 2 Rock O’Cashel Lane, Geelong.
