Geelong Illustrators is celebrating its 4th birthday with an art-fuelled party

Geelong Illustrators are hosting an epic birthday bash this September - and you're all invited.

Renowned as a community group of artists from Geelong and surrounds with the aim to inspire each other to high standards of creativity and uplift each other through group exhibitions, meets and mutual support, Geelong Illustrators has become a gathering place for lovers of the arts in all its forms – no matter the style, medium, or level of experience.

With zero pretentiousness and a vision for showcasing the hidden talents of emerging artists, Geelong Illustrators began thanks to three local artists – Morgan, Jenna and Laura Alice – whose love of inky, story-telling pictures and dreams of a collaborative community unfurled into this fledgling project. The idea came with the realization that Geelong had a strong group of amazing illustrative artists whose talent remain untapped.

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around the region here.

While the original founders have moved on, Geelong Illustrators has continued to thrive under the management of Clare Holder and has seen countless local artists reap the benefits of having a supportive group to bounce ideas off and ask for advice, collaborate in group art projects, and exhibit and sell their artworks at the groups’ Studio Gallery in the Geelong CBD, which opened its vibrant doors back in 2018.

Located at 105 Moorabool Street Geelong, the Geelong Illustrators Studio Gallery is filled with many different and unique styles of artwork and handmade wares, all lovingly made by local creatives in the Geelong region.

Four years on, and now Geelong Illustrators are celebrating the Studio Gallery’s fourth birthday as well as the milestones that were missed during the last two years of lockdown.

Celebrations will kick off from 6pm to 8pm on Friday 2nd September and will comprise of a vibrant new group exhibition, food and drinks, funky tunes, door prizes, giveaways and more.

“We’re so lucky to have had our Studio Gallery for 4 years. It’s such a privilege to be involved in the Geelong community and to be able to interact with local artists and art lovers on a daily basis. We pride ourselves on being inclusive and accessible to everyone. We encourage visual artists of all sorts, no matter the style, medium, or level of experience,” says Clare Holder, Geelong Illustrators Manager.

Entry is free so pop in and celebrate Geelong’s thriving art community.
