Set against the backdrop of Geelong’s cultural tapestry, Future Creatives 2024 promises a vibrant display of artistic ingenuity. The selected works, crafted with finesse, reflect the artists’ robust conceptual and perceptual development. Employing a diverse range of techniques and media, these emerging talents explore a spectrum of themes, from personal identity and gender equity to relationships and urgent concerns surrounding climate change.

The discerning eyes behind the selection panel belong to Geelong Gallery’s Learn & Audience Engagement Manager, Elishia Furet, Assistant Curator Katarina Paseta, and the insightful guest judge, Dr Merinda Kelly, a lecturer at Deakin University and an accomplished artist in her own right.

Dr Kelly shared her enthusiasm, remarking, “Geelong’s young citizens are our future creatives, artists, designers, innovators, and champions of the arts. Future Creatives is a space where Geelong’s art and design students can creatively communicate to broader audiences, their unique ideas, meanings, and responses to a rapidly changing world.”

Following the triumph of the inaugural exhibition in 2023, Geelong Gallery is eager to once again shine a spotlight on the accomplishments and creative practices of the city’s budding artists. The gallery extends its gratitude to the Creative Futures Design Fund for generously supporting the exhibition, providing a valuable platform for the professional development of students and assisting in paving the way for future tertiary studies in art and design.

Art enthusiasts and culture connoisseurs can mark their calendars for the Future Creatives 2024 exhibition, running from Saturday, 9th March to Sunday, 5th May 2024, at Geelong Gallery. This showcase of emerging talent is made possible through the partnership with the Creative Futures Design Fund. Don’t miss the chance to witness the future of Geelong’s artistic landscape unfold before your eyes.
