The workshops, designed in collaboration with Geelong’s newest artist-led gallery space, RUT, will offer hands-on learning experiences that focus on niche artistic skills like Augmented Reality (AR) activation, interactivity, animation, and paste-ups. These dynamic, accessible sessions aim to spark new ideas and provide artists with fresh tools to incorporate into their work.

Whether you’re an illustrator, photographer, street artist, or just a curious enthusiast, these workshops are designed to be inclusive and applicable to all stages of an artist’s journey. With Laura’s guidance, participants will have the opportunity to connect with other creatives in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Laura Alice is known for pushing the boundaries of art, blending beauty with technology in ways that foster a deeper connection between artists and their audiences. Her cutting-edge projects often explore the intersection of art and innovation, and her work aims to blur the lines between the visible and the invisible.

First Workshop: Augmented Reality for Creatives

The first workshop in this exciting new series will be an introduction to integrating Augmented Reality (AR) into your artworks. Designed for illustrators, photographers, and other creatives, this beginner-friendly session will teach you how to animate your artworks in real time on mobile phones using simple, accessible software.

The hands-on evening will give you the skills to create your own AR overlay that anyone can access via a QR code—making your artwork come to life in a whole new way. All you need is an iPhone and a physical 2D artwork or photo, and you’ll leave the session with a working AR activation for your piece.

Participants will also receive an e-mag outlining all the steps and software used, so they can continue experimenting and applying these techniques in their future projects.

This first workshop is just the beginning, with future sessions to dive deeper into more complex AR artwork and interactive creations.

Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your artistic toolkit and take your creativity to the next level.
