Future Folk returns, giving young artists the chance to perform at Port Fairy Folk Festival 2023

Ever dreamt about performing on stage at the Port Fairy Folk Festival?

If you or someone who know would love the chance to be part of the 2023 Port Fairy Folk Festival and share a lineup with the likes of 19-Twenty, Billy Bragg (USA), Eric Bibb (USA), Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse, Inn Echo (CAN), John Smith (ENG), Mary Coughlan (IRE), Steve Poltz (USA), and The Waifs, then Future Folk is for you.

Following on from the success of last year’s pilot program, the young musician development program Future Folk is returning to the beloved seaside festival to support young emerging artists and performers from southwest Victoria.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Supported by Moyne Shire Council through the Victorian Government FReeZA program, Future Folk participants between the ages of 12 to 25 will work with established artists in one-on-one and group mentoring sessions before, during and after the Festival.

Whether you’re a singer, songwriter, a musician or a band, this is your chance to gain valuable skills from professional artists and experience performing in front of a festival audience.

Future Folk participants will receive:

· A full 20 minute set performance on Fiddlers Green as part of an emerging artist showcase

· Songwriters Circle: a two-song performance on the main stage inside the festival arena.

· Artists will also receive payment for their performance

In addition, four artists will be selected to perform a 30 minute set on a main stage within the festival arena.

Applying for the opportunity is super simple. You can need to fill in your main details, provide links to your social media and streaming platforms, and explain which artist you would like to be mentored by from the current 2023 lineup and why. So easy!

Applications are now open. You can apply here
