Described as a “beer-drenched belter” by triple j’s Joe Kahn, ‘New Australia’ is more than just a track; it’s a gritty reflection of working-class life. Penned by songwriter Jake Doyle during his stint at a mundane warehouse job, the song captures the frustration and monotony of everyday existence with raucous punk riffs and raw, relatable lyrics.

Accompanying the single is a music video that encapsulates the essence of Drunk Mums’ carefree spirit. Shot against the backdrop of Melbourne’s west, the video is a frenetic montage of beer-swilling antics and blistering guitar solos, serving as a visual homage to the band’s unapologetic approach to life.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Beer Baby, the band’s forthcoming album, promises to deliver ten relentless party anthems, each one a raucous celebration of hedonism and chaos. Recorded at Hothouse Audio with Jez Giddings, the album is a testament to Drunk Mums’ unwavering commitment to their craft. It follows the release of their 2018 album Urban Cowboy, which earned them airplay across PBS, Triple R, FBi, 4ZZZ, Edge and Radio Adelaide, as well as spins on tastemaker US radio station KEXP.

Formed in 2011, Drunk Mums have solidified their reputation as one of Australia’s most electrifying live acts, having graced stages at festivals like Laneway and BIGSOUND, and supported the likes of Amyl and the Sniffers and Richie Ramone. Now, fresh from their UK/EU tour, the band is gearing up for a nationwide run that promises to be nothing short of epic.
