Drift announce Candyland EP and Australian tour

They'll be setting off across the country to support their forthcoming EP.

For the past few years, Drift have been drip-feeding fans a stream of heavy-hitting tracks – washed-out, raw and layered to form an impenetrable wall of sound.

Now, they’ve announced the release of Candyland, their long-anticipated sophomore EP and the follow-up to 2021’s Maybe I’m Wrong. To celebrate the new EP, set to drop on Wednesday, October 4, they’ll be touring around Australia with a bunch of top-tier local support.

On Candyland, the band grapples with mental health struggles, acknowledging that indulging in too much of a seemingly good thing can have consequences.

“The songs on ‘Candyland’ were written during a time of despair, reflecting my personal battles with depression and anxiety. Crafting this EP became my way of dealing with the turmoil within me,” says lead singer Callum McCombie.

“The metaphor of Candyland perfectly captures the duality of my experiences — sweet yet toxic, attractive yet destructive.”

Bringing together shoegaze, emo and indie rock, Drift has a sound that is surprisingly mature and instantly captivating. Known for their intense and memorable live performances, they’re the kind of band that is destined for bigger stages.

The upcoming tour, presented by Young Henrys, Dickies and Backbone Music Group, will also feature some of the most exciting emerging rock and alternative acts in each city, including Shady Nasty, Garage Sale and Private Wives.
